World's Smallest Racing Dinghy!
See the May 2010 issue of Sailing World for feature article on the New Hampshire fleet!
Slower than a speeding bullet, smaller than an Optimist, able to float a person bigger than she is... No, this is not a boat for juniors, in fact, only experienced sailors need apply. But if you like to race, and can't seem to give it up for the winter, this 6'4" LOA boat may be just the ticket, because the Cape Cod Frosty is debatably the most fun racing dinghy in existence.
Designed in 1984 by Harwich, MA Harbor Master, Tom Leach, the Frosty caught on quickly locally, and during the next ten years, ten more fleets sprang up across the US and Canada. Today there are over 1000 Frostys in existence (most of them owner built), and there is an active class association that sponsors the North American Championship and maintains the class Web site.
There is tons of information on the Frosty on this Web site. Be sure to check our newsletter archives--the old newsletters are loaded with useful and informative articles.
